FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

10 March 2011

No top, please: we’re British. The Jensen Interceptor baRes it all.

British manufacturer Jensen International Automotive has started work to produce a classic topless Interceptor in R series specification, the eleventh car to go into production this year.

Whilst JIA will endeavour to leave untouched as much as possible of the original convertible – one of only 267 ever made - the resulting car will be brought to the highest standards of performance shared by the other Interceptor Rs coming out of Jensen International Automotive’s production lines in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

One of the very few wholly-British niche car makers left, JIA keeps production capacity at twelve cars a year, which allows them flexibility in creating bespoke models from original donor cars. A classic convertible Interceptor is only one of the many possible bespoke permutations achievable thanks to the firm’s deployment of new processes and technology inspiring this modern interpretation of the iconic British super ‘grand tourer’ of the Seventies.

Jensen International Automotive relies on a team of twenty-two suppliers and contractors, all British apart from GM which provides the engine, a 429bhp Corvette 6.2 V8 with a top speed of over 160mph and 0-60mph in less than 4.5sec.

Notes to Editors: Oxfordshire-based Jensen International Automotive was formed in spring 2010. The company is committed to manufacturing a modern interpretation of the Interceptor dream, whilst remaining true to its status as a British legend. JIA restores, modifies and improves original Interceptors, fast-forwarding the Seventies’ dream by forty years.
